Media Shows : a brief tutorial

IMATRIX media software has the ability to allow users to greate simple multimedia slide show presentations...  Online.  These can then be accessed, viewed, edited or emailed anytime, or anywere the user has access to the internet. 

From the Homepage select the square RED icon...


 
Note the cube and the navbuttons that appear on the left hand side...

The buttons are color coded to correspond to the different areas that they take you to... 
 
These are Media Shows that are "Pre-created"...

You can browse the categories, and click on the title of a show you would like to view 


Media Shows that appear under the "Classroom" tab, may be "Copied" into
your personal locker and edited.

However, most people want to know how to create their own media shows...

Click on the “Create” tab on the top NavBar.


Anywhere you see these icons, Clicking on them will return you to this media import page…
You should get a screen that looks like this:
There are three (3) sources for media for your Media basket:
1)  Collections:    Click on the Green Image Collections button.

Choose images by either: 
1. To open one of the image Collections, simply click on its name.  Different collections can be selected by using the "Jump TO" feature at the bottom of the screen;

2.Use the "search’ feature at the top of the Collection list to look for specific topics.  The drop down box gives search choices of "Collection Titles, Keywords and Dewey Decimal assigned images.
Once the collection is chosen, click on the image in the center of the title page or click on the words "Show me the Images…" 
This will open the images in the collection, displaying six (6) to each page. 
Select the images you want by clicking the “Use in My Show” button over each image.

The “View Media Basket” keeps track of the number of images in your basket
Note: objects in the media basket ARE LOST
if you close your internet browser before saving the show.

2)  The Internet: Click this button to gather multimedia

objects from the other websites on the Internet. 
…and the following two windows will show up on your screen: From here you can search the Internet using Outside Resources or your favorite Search Engines.

Simply “Copy-n-Paste” the http://address (URL) of the multimedia object you would like to add to your media show, from the bottom to the top windows…

Netscape Users:

..PC users, use the "other" button on your mouse to "right click",  Mac users, click-n-hold...

...over the image/sound you wish to "copy." A menu will pop-up giving several options. At the bottom of the menu, select “Copy Image Location”.

PC Internet Explorer Users:

...PC users, use the "other" button on your mouse to "right click"over the image/sound you wish to "copy."

A menu will pop-up giving several options. At the bottom of the menu, select “Properties”.

A dialog box will pop up with information about the image.  Highlight Address: (URL) ... leave your mouse over the address… right click again,.. Select “Copy”.
MAC Internet Explorer Users:

...MAC users, simply "click-n-hold" your mouse button "over the image/sound you wish to "copy."
 

The only option you can use in the MAC version of IE is "Open Image in New window"... 
Highlight the Address: line & Copy” this address by any method you know.
( NOTE: You may also “Copy-n-Paste” or type any text you wish into the second box, however, this is not required.)


The button on the red bar returns you to your Media Basket. 

and

The "Get More Stuff" button will return you the the import screen...

3) Upload Your Own:  Click this button to upload 

your own images from a scanner or digital camera

 
(Note: This will  open a second window with a login screen if you have not yet logged in.  If you do not have a locker setup, you will need to get one now.
When the window below (left) opens, Use it to find images/sounds/videos from your own computer; floppy, C-drive, H-drive, etc.
Remember to change the “HTML Files” to “All Files” … and that only certain file formats are usable in internet browsers.
After choosing the image/sound you want, use the  button...
Use the button  after gathering your images/sound/videos to return to your “Media Basket”... 

Saving your  Media Show


You CAN NOT SAVE a media basket without selecting one of  two options:

This button takes you to 
Quick Show Editor. 
This is a good option to use if you are not sure which kind of show you want to build because you can upgrade to a Customized show later on... 


This button takes you to Customized Show Editor.
Be careful using this button…Once you have chosen this option you cannot change your show back to a Silver Quick Show. 


 
Once you have selected a Show type,
you can use the button at any time.
Enter your Virtual Locker number, Password, and Title or 
Name of your Media Show.

( NOTE: If you do not have a virtual Locker… 
Use the “To obtain your Virtual Locker Click Here” link at the top of the screen. )


 
  To find your finished test, simply return to the 1st browser window... 
Use the  option in the menu bar...

Remember...
the only thing EASIER
than making your own Media Show...

Is to just "Copy" someone else's!!!!!
