Content
and process for the workshop and tutorials are developed by the SURWEB
Professional Development Coordinator based on observation of the workshops
and feedback from participants. For example, the SURWEB Professional
Development Coordinator distributed an exit survey to provide formative
evaluation of the workshops during the first quarter of 1999. Results of the exit survey are
located in Appendix F: Results of Teacher Exit Surveys from the SURWEB Workshops. In
addition, the Coordinator keeps records of the participants’ profiles
for each workshop. Finally, teachers are encouraged to register with the
SURWEB guestbook to provide qualitative feedback about the SURWEB
information resources and workshops.
SURWEB
demonstrations and professional development workshops are intended to
disseminate SURWEB and to facilitate the general integration of digital,
networked multimedia into classroom practices. They are conducted with teachers,
students, and other community members who have a stake in educational
improvement.
In
2000, the SURWEB coordinator was instrumental in providing site design,
demonstrations and instruction for the iMatrix Consortium. New types of professional
development were designed for technical staff from educational technology
projects across the United States. At
“Bring Your Own Server Parties” the projects met with SURWEB technical
and professional development staff to learn how to install and use the
SURWEB application on their home servers.
Formative evaluation of the iMatrix concept and training is
detailed in a report about iMatrix training for the Florida Learning
Alliance (Black, 2000) located in Appendix
G.
