The first
three years of the SURWEB project were devoted to developing the
infrastructure, procedures and learning tools necessary for full
implementation of SURWEB. In
the last two years of the project a sufficient threshold of users was in
place so that the effects of the SURWEB intervention on learning could be
studied on a broader scale. Between
1999 and 2000, four studies were conducted to measure the effect of SURWEB
student achievement. The
results inform two broad domains of study related to student achievement:
1) the uses of SURWEB for knowledge and skill acquisition and 2) student
access and use of learning technologies, including SURWEB.
